This division at Volvo Cars is developing the next generation of high-performance vehicle computers designed to handle vehicle applications, from basic state machines for the vehicle's various states to advanced active safety and autonomous driving functions for the next generation of fully electric and self-driving Volvo models.

Developing a new software platform to enable improved electric and autonomous vehicles is a complex task that requires new skills and creative perspectives. Volvo Cars was looking for twelve recent graduates in Gothenburg and Lund with expertise in embedded systems for roles in High Performance, High Integrity, Core Platform and Diagnostics. To meet these needs, they sought a partner with experience in technical recruitment and who could offer a fully customized training program, specifically targeted at software development in the automotive industry.

We provided a talent program solution that included recruitment, onboarding, program implementation and training packages. In close collaboration with Volvo Cars and our sister companies within Vinngroup, we created training modules focusing on software development, cybersecurity and innovation behaviors.

Thanks to Hubbau’s proactive work with candidates and senior technical recruiters, nine of the twelve talent program positions were already filled within three weeks. Five weeks later, the entire talent program recruitment was completed.

After Hubbau’s qualification process and final interviews at Volvo Cars, 77% of the candidates presented were offered a place in the talent program. Thanks to Hubbau’s accurate matching, Volvo Cars was able to save valuable time during the recruitment process, where they only needed to interview two candidates per role on average to find the right person.

What happened after a year?

After a successful year in the talent program, where 83% of participants transferred to employment at VCC, the collaboration with Volvo Cars has continued to grow. In September 2024, a new talent program started with 16 talents who now contribute across several departments in R&D.
